“Is Your Name Written in the Book of Life”?

Rev 20:15, And anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

Author: Evangelist Daniel Sushanth

Each morning, I have to walk precisely 20 meters to reach a common pick-up point for the bus that takes me to work. To avoid missing the bus, which never waits for anyone and leaves immediately if there are no passengers, I always make sure to arrive early and stand at the designated spot.

If I miss the bus, my entire day’s plans will be disrupted, and it will be challenging to find an alternative means of transportation. Even if I manage to get to work late, it will cause undue stress and pressure to make up for lost time. I can recall missing the bus twice in the past, and it has negatively affected my work schedule.

To ensure that I never miss the bus, I plan my schedule accordingly and walk briskly to reach the pick-up point on time. When I do manage to catch the bus, it brings me immense relief and happiness, and I feel like a winner. I’m sure many of you can relate to this experience.

Revelation 20:15 serves as a chilling reminder that if our names are not written in the book of life, we will be cast into the lake of fire. There are no excuses or alternatives to appeal our fate. On the day of judgement, when our names are called out, if they are not on the list, we will be dragged to the gates of hell by the angels, with no one willing to listen to our cries or stories. The thought of such a situation is truly miserable.

However, those who are fortunate enough to have their names written in the book of life will be escorted by the angels to the gates of heaven, where they will be rewarded upon arrival. It is a great privilege and honor to dwell in the Holy place and to be in the presence of the creator for eternity.

Waiting for exam results can be like waiting for judgment day, and the disappointment of not passing can be similar to the feeling of not having one’s name on the list in Revelation 20:15. The pupil may then realize that they had the necessary time and resources to perform well but didn’t take an interest or care enough to study hard. It can be disheartening to see friends celebrating their success while feeling left behind.

As a seeker of salvation, you find yourself lost in a dense forest with only a map and compass to guide you. Without a clear sense of direction, you suddenly come across a guide who offers to lead you to safety. This guide points out obstacles, helps you navigate the difficult terrain, and eventually leads you to safety.

In a spiritual context, the seeker represents those who are seeking salvation. The map and compass represent the teachings of the Bible, while the guide represents Jesus Christ. To find salvation, we must rely on the teachings of the Bible. However, it is only by following the guidance of Jesus Christ that we can truly understand and apply these teachings in our lives. By following His example and teachings, we can navigate the challenges of life and ultimately reach the ultimate goal of eternal life.

To attain spiritual well-being, one must adhere to God’s guidelines, follow Jesus’ teachings, and obey His commandments. As a representative of Christ, it’s important to live a virtuous life. However, some individuals believe that being baptized with water is a one-time cleansing process that absolves them of all sins. This idea is mistaken.

Merely being baptized and having faith is insufficient; one must also follow Jesus’ teachings to live a righteous life and remain on the path to salvation. To experience a genuine spiritual rebirth, one must transform into a better person who lives a life of righteousness. If one manages to do so, their name will be added to the book of life. Consequently, it’s important to live one’s life in accordance with the Bible’s guidance to ensure that their name is included in the book of life.

Don’t be left behind….

Father, We come to you with open hearts and minds, seeking guidance and salvation. We ask that you help us to stay on the path of righteousness, following your teachings and obeying your commandments. We pray that our names are written in the book of life so that we may enter the gates of heaven and dwell in your holy presence for eternity. Please guide us as we navigate the challenges of life, and help us to follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, who is our ultimate guide and example. We pray for strength, wisdom, and courage as we seek to live a virtuous life and remain on the path to salvation. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
